Sustainability at our heart

Minimising environmental impact in everything we do

As a provider of sustainable solutions for our customers, we must demonstrate that same commitment to sustainability in our own values and vision.  We aligned our sustainability programme with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – striving to make the world a better place, from our home in St Albans.  From accreditations and awards such as the Royal Warrant and Planet Mark to staff training and awareness, our commitment to sustainability is clear for all to see.

Sustainability where we work

When we extended and refurbished our office and factory in 2020, sustainability was paramount. That’s why our energy efficiency measures included:
  • Higher levels of insulation
  • A new heating and ventilation system
  • LED lighting
  • Thermal shutters for the factory doors
  • Solar panels on the roof designed to generate 80,000KW of green energy p/a
High level, double glazed windows at the rear of the factory give a lot of natural light and ventilation that improves the working environment. This development provides modern workspaces with a production facility able to deliver high quality bespoke products that help make buildings of all types more sustainable both for the users and our planet. Day to day sustainable practices

We’re moving to ultra-low emission vans and cars and aim to go electric in the next few years. We’re as paperless as possible, we discourage single-use plastics and we encourage car sharing. And because being active is good for all of us, we have a cycle to work scheme.

Reduce, reuse, recycle

Lean manufacturing techniques minimise material factory wastage. All waste is disposed of responsibly, with around 90% sent for recycling and 10% to landfill.

Taking care of each other

Our staff are our most important asset, so their welfare is our priority. Our office and factory redevelopment has improved the environment, creating a workplace to be proud of. We are committed to protecting employee rights and making sure we use the best employment practices – because this is the right thing to do for them. We want all of us to achieve our full potential, so training and development is available at all levels, and we have a thriving apprenticeship programme. All this is supported by our accreditation to Investors in People and by one of our core values to support each other. Responsible Procurement

Through close working with the supply chain, responsible practices are encouraged with policies and commitments in place for antislavery and anti-bribery. Materials and suppliers are selected on the basis of sustainability and ethical trade, with all procured timber carrying FSC accreditation. Suppliers are encouraged to use reusable packaging.
