Cookie Policy

What is a cookie?   A cookie is a small file, typically of letters and numbers, downloaded onto a device when the user accesses certain websites. Cookies may then be sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit. Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognise a user’s device and track what the user does. How do we use them? Selectaglaze use cookies in the following ways.  1. Site visitor statistics Selectaglaze use Google Analytics as a tool to collect statistics of visitor activity on the site.  No personal information is collected and we have no way of knowing who the visitors are.  The data collected is used to help us improve the visitor experience on the site and to make the most sought after information more easily available to site visitors. If you do not wish us to collect statistics of your visit, please adjust the cookie settings in your browser.   If you do not do this, we shall assume you are content with our use of cookies in this way. You need to decide the extent to which you wish to block cookies, as blocking them too effectively may (for example) prevent you being able to log in to any site requiring log-in or from completing online purchases.  We have extracted the following instructions from the Help pages of leading browsers by way of guidance as to how to block cookies completely.  Please refer to your Browser’s Help pages for guidance on how to limit cookies more subtly.  To block cookies completely, you need to do the following: Internet explorer 
  • Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
  • Click the Privacy tab, and then move the slider to the level of privacy you prefer. 
  • Block all cookies  will prevent use of any cookies on this or other sites.
Firefox  At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options
  • Select the Privacy panel.
  • Set Firefox will: to Use custom settings for history.
  • Remove the check mark from Accept cookies from sites.
  • Click OK to close the Options window  
Google chrome
  • Click the spanner icon on the browser toolbar. 
  • Select Settings.
  • Click Show advanced settings.
  • In the "Privacy" section, click the Content settings button.
  • In the "Cookies" section,Select Block Cookies by default
  • Select "Block sites from setting any data".
Keep in mind that selecting this setting will prevent most sites that require you to sign in from working.   2. Selectaglaze update emails: All our email newsletters contain an option to unsubscribe.  For those people who subscribe, we monitor the reading of the newsletter by means of cookie-like snippets.  In all our emails, we explain that we do this and ask those who are not happy with this monitoring to unsubscribe from our mailing list. We continue to monitor reading statistics for those subscribers who receive our emails and do not unsubscribe.
