Rock-a-bye baby with secondary glazing, when the wind blows you won’t feel a thing

Mr and Mrs Chowdhury

A secondary glazing treatment to a set of patio doors in a suburban home in Cockfosters, North London makes a living room warmer, quieter and more comfortable for a couple’s new born baby. Following the arrival of their son, the Chowdhury’s felt that improvements were needed to upgrade the patio doors in their living room, which were installed in the early 70s. Doing little to stop draughts and heat loss, as well as allowing the noise from trains passing New Barnet railway station to penetrate the interior, something needed to be done to address these issues. Having considered replacement patio doors, the couple opted to have Series 10 horizontal sliders fitted with 6.8mm laminated glass. The secondary glazing set with a cavity of 100mm provided the best way to acoustically insulate the original doors, creating a quiet and peaceful interior. In addition, the living room is now considerably warmer and the unit has also provided an extra level of security; all of which has given peace of mind to the parents and a content, cosy baby.
