World Green Building Week: Building a Sustainable NHS

As part of World Green Building Week, Selectaglaze will be giving a brief presentation on how secondary glazing can help build a more sustainable NHS when considering the refurbishment of existing buildings. We are very fortunate to have the NHS, protecting people's health; however, with an ageing property estate across the UK, the healthcare system is projected to account for 4-5% of the country's carbon footprint. Although the primary goal of our NHS is to protect people's health, it has been evident in the last five years that it has a significant environmental effect. The healthcare system in the United Kingdom is projected to account for 4 to 5% of the country's carbon footprint. With a global push to reduce carbon consumption, current healthcare institutions are facing the challenge of fulfilling their sustainability objectives. The expert panel will talk through the innovative ways of how certain products can help raise the performance of existing materials, with a Q&A session at the end. The Selectaglaze presentation will give a brief overview of how secondary glazing can help upgrade existing windows, making them more thermally efficient and providing noise insulation - both very beneficial for patient recuperation. The installation of a second independent window also means the embodied carbon is retained from the existing window, which will add to the overall sustainability of the building.   Book your free place here
